Performance tests results

All tests were performed under Win98.

Test system configuration:

Motherboard: QDI Winnex1 Intel810 socket 370
CPU: Intel Celeron 300A PPGA
Memory: 64mb PC100 SDram (LGS)
Primary IDE port controler: Quantum Fireball EIDE ST 3.2A hard disk
Secondary IDE port controler: Creative lab 48X cd-rom driver
Graphic card: built-in
OS: Win98 4.10
DirectX 6.0

Winbench99 CPUmark99

Comparatively to all the socket 370 motherboards previously tested, the QDI Winnex1 grabs all the honors according to the above results.

According to this test, theQDI Winnex1 motherboard is not doing so good BUT we must remember that all the other socket 370 motherboards benefited of a STB velocity 4400 TNT 16 Mb AGP graphic card... So, if it just get ONE point behind them.... all we can say is that the QDI Winnex1 is not so bad at all, is'nt it?...

Overclocking test

As you can see, the QDI Winnex1 motherboard easily get through this test because it possible to use either a 66Mhz bus or a 100Mhz bus. Therefore, a 100Mhz bus coupled to a 4.5 multiplier pushes the 300A Celeron to 450Mhz for a performance gain of more than 44%...

Above, the graphic performances of theQDI Winnex1. Of course, we are still far from a TNT graphic card performances but we are also very far from the its price tag too... We must bear in mind that a TNT alone costs more than the Winnex1 with its onboard graphic and sound cards...

Global evaluation of Quality

The following evaluation table contains all the positive points of this motherboard. We all know that we never buy a motherboard only for its performances because all motherboards are now merely equal in performances. Then we need more information elements to distinguish advantages from one motherboard comparing to another and that's where this evaluation table takes its place.

Total Score obtained for this motherboard

86 points

This motherboard obtains 86 points out of 100. Once again, we are testing a GOOD product. The explanations about some of the lost points are given in the in "weak points" section down below.

The strong points

The strong points of this motherboard are: pretty easy to overclock, good general performances, the ULTRA ATA/66 mode capability and of course its integrated video and sound cards.

The weak points

The weak points of this motherboard are: a rather lkimited number of PCI extension slots and no AGP and ISA slots are the first noticed disadvantages. However, we must remember that the AGP standadrs are only allowing ONE device to the AGP port. So there is no surprise not to find an AGP slot on this motherboard considering the fact that there is already an AGP card buit-in.

Conclusions

The QDI Winnex1 motherboard is a pretty interesting motherboard for sure. The fact that it supports 512Mb of memory and the ATA/66 IDE mode makes it a very good choice to built a personnal computer from scratch. New and faster Celeron PPGA processors are appearing regularly and it gives to this type of motherboard a good hope to be used for a confortable amount of time. Furthermore, the built-in sound card means the economy of a PCI extension slot thatwe can therefore be used for something else such as a network card for instance. This motherboard was designed for low cost personal computing and in my opinion, it really meets the target for what it has been designed for....
