Additional features

Additional features of the Asus P4S8X motherboard include: Wake on LAN, Wake on Modem Ring, PS2 connectors for connecting mice & keyboards, six USB 2.0 ports, two Firewire ports, Suspend to Disk, Suspend to RAM, AGP Warning LED, an SMBus connector, RX/TX connectors for infrared communication, and start-up from the mouse, keyboard, or at a pre-set time. Hardware monitoring of fan speed, CPU temperature, and of voltages is also included as a standard feature of this PC99-compliant motherboard.

The Asus P4S8X also comes with an integrated six-channel C-Media CMI9739A 5.1 sound-card.

Installation

Installation of the P4S8X is quite simple, since there is no real need to play with jumpers. Simply place the board in a case, plug in, boot-up, and drop into the BIOS to make any adjustments.

Software bundle

The installation CD includes the SYS AGP and IDE patch, drivers for the sound-card, drivers for the USB 2.0 controller, drivers for the network controller, drivers for the SerialATA controller, Adobe Acrobat Reader, DirectX 8.1, Winbond Voice Editor, Winbond Smart Manager Application, Asus Pc Probe, Asus Update, 3Deep E-Color, PC-Cilling 2002, and Asus Screen Savers.

Hardware bundle

The ASUS P4S8X comes with: two 80-pin ATA133 cables, one 40-pin ATA33 cable, two SerialATA cables, one floppy-drive cable, a backplate with a pair of USB ports and a game port, a backplate with a Firewire port, the installation CD, a user's manual, and a plaque for the rear end of the motherboard with various connectors.
