Additional features

Additional features of the ASUS P4PE motherboard include: Wake on LAN, Wake on Modem Ring, an SMBus connector, PS2 connectors for connecting mice & keyboards, 6 USB ports - four of which are located on the back panel, Suspend to RAM, RX/TX connectors for infrared, and start-up from the mouse, keyboard, or at a pre-set time. Hardware monitoring of fan speed, CPU temperature, and of voltages is also included as a standard feature of this PC99-compliant motherboard.

The ASUS P4PE package also includes the following options: an ATA133 RAID controller with Serial ATA and standard IDE ports(modes 0, 1, and 0+1), a 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet controller, and a six-channel sound-card.

Installation

Installation of the P4PE is quite simple, as there is no real need to play with jumpers. Simply place the board in a case, plug in, boot-up, and drop into the BIOS to make any adjustments.

Software bundle

The installation CD includes the Intel 4.04.1007 patches, drivers for the sound-card, drivers for the USB 2.0 controller, drivers for the RAID controller, drivers for the network controller, Adobe Acrobat Reader, the Asus Update utility, DirectX 8.1, Asus Pc Probe, the Flash Check utility, Winbond Voice Editor, Trend Micro PC-cillin 2002, and InterVideo WinCinema (Gold version).

Hardware bundle

The ASUS P4PE comes with: two 80-pin ATA133 cables, one ATA66 cable, one floppy-drive cable, one 10-6 pin Firewire cable, two serial ATA cables, a backplate for the rear of the system with a pair USB ports and a game port, an SPDIF support, a support with two Firewire ports, and a cover for the I/O connectors.
