The features (continued)
Additional features of the Fic KA-11 motherboard, include: Wake on LAN, Wake on Modem Ring, PS/2 connectors, USB connectors, RX/TX infrared connectors, start-up from the keyboard/mouse/at a pre-set time, and Power Failure Resume. Hardware monitoring of fan speed, CPU temperature and voltages are available only as options. The KA-11 also includes an integrated sound card that makes use of the Creative Labs CT5880 chipset. This motherboard meets the PC99 standard.
The KA-11 also includes a few peculiarities, in the form of 3 hot keys that permit the system to boot and jump into the BIOS. These include:
CTRL+C = to enter the clock frequency adjustment menu
CTRL+p = to change from the default settings to the "Performance" settings, and restart
CTRL+f = to change from the default settings to the "Fail Safe" settings, and restart
Speaking of peculiarities, the KA-11 also includes the ability to sound-off 3 different audible alerts, such as:
No Cpu = indicates that no CPU has been detected
No Memory = indicates that no memory has been detected
No Graphics = indicates that no graphics card has been detected
These alerts are also accompanied by the flashing of a red LED, that indicates abnormal operations.
Below, a photo of the KA-11 provides a fine view of the motherboard, and its components.

Installation
Having positioned the DIP switches, in order to set the clock multiplier, there is no other work left to speak of. That said, its a sound idea to check jumpers A to E to make sure that the voltage selected corresponds with that of the CPU, or else all set at 2-3 to allow the system to select CPU voltage automatic.
The software bundle
The software bundle that accompanies the Fic KA-11 is composed of 2 CDs that include: VIA patches, Highpoint Xstore Pro bus-master drivers, the LogoGenie utility, the 1stAid hardware monitoring program, Symantec Norton Antivirus, Norton Ghost, and Norton VirtualDrive.
Next: The test results.
