Introduction

Chaintech's CT-6VJD2, is a member of the multi-memory-standard-support club; meaning it comes with support for conventional PC133 SDRAM, as well as PC1600 and/or PC2100 DDR-SDRAM. As it's based on the recently released VIA Pro266 chipset, we can count the CT-6VJD2 as one of very few Socket 370 boards currently shipping without an Intel chipset inside. We had this mobo since a long time but we were unfortunately refrained to review it because of an overload of work. Thus, no need to say that we're realy happy to finally be able review this board.

Configuration

Configuration of the CT-6VJD2 is accomplished through a combination of jumper and BIOS settings.

Jumpers JP5/JP6, for instance, can be used to force the FSB to 66MHz, 100MHz or 133MHz.

To change the FSB frequency from within the BIOS, users need only access the "Frequency/Voltage Control" menu.

Alteration of the clock multiplier to a setting ranging from 5X to 12.5X can be accomplished using jumpers JP12.

Finally, the "Advanced Chipset Features" menu includes a sub-menu labeled "DRAM Clock Drive" which can be used to tweak the system's memory timing.

To sum it all, the CT-VJD2 is identical to the CT-6VJD but offers a more flexible memory system.
