Additional features

Additional features of the Fic AZ11 include: Wake on LAN, Wake on Modem Ring, PS2 connectors for mice & keyboards, 2 USB ports on the rear panel, 2 USB ports on the board itself, Power Failure Recovery, Suspend to RAM, RX/TX connectors for infrared communication, and start-up from the keyboard/mouse, or at a pre-set time. Hardware monitoring of fan speeds is also included on this PC99-compliant board, but no option for monitoring the CPU's temperature, or voltages. On the other hand, the AZ11 does possess a connector for a Novus II module. Finally, there is an integrated AC"97-compatible sound card, which is controlled by the Via 686A southbridge.

Installation

Installation of the AZ11 passes without problems. As the are few jumpers present, a typical installation consists of placing the board in a casing, plugging everything in, verifying the jumper settings, booting-up, and making a quick pass through the BIOS to finalize any adjustments.



The software bundle

The installation CD includes the Via 4-in-1 drivers v4.20, drivers for the AC"97 sound-card, a utility for monitoring the hardware, an digital version of the user's manual, and Adobe Acrobat Reader. There are also several utilities present, including: Logo genie - which permits the user to set a logo for their screen, a hardware-monitoring program called FirstAid, Mediaring Talk99 for placing telephone calls over the internet, and Clockometer - a utility for Overclocking the board, without needing to drop into the BIOS. A second, bonus CD includes Norton Ghost, Norton Antivirus, and Virtual Drive.



The hardware bundle

The Fic AZ11 comes accompanied by a hardware pack that includes: and 80-pin ATA/66 cable, a 40-pin ATA/33 connector, a floppy-drive cable, and a plaque for the rear of a casing that includes the proper holes for all the audio plugs - but a joystick connector.
