Additional features of the AOpen AX4B Max motherboard include: Wake on LAN, Wake on Modem Ring, PS2 connectors for connecting mice & keyboards, 4 USB 1.1 ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports, an IEEE-1394 ("Firewire") controller, Suspend to Disk, Suspend to RAM, RX/TX connectors for infrared, Dr. LED (option), Watch Dog Timer, DieHard BIOS (option), an SPDIF interface, and start-up from the mouse, keyboard, or at a pre-set time. Hardware monitoring of fan speed, CPU temperature, and of voltages is also included as a standard feature of this PC99-compliant motherboard.

Finally, the AOpen AX4B Max also includes an integrated Realtelk ALC650 5.1, 6-channel, AC'97 2.2-compatible sound-card.

Installation

Installation of the AX4B Max is very simple, thanks to the lack of jumpers. Simply slap the board in a case, plug everything in, boot-up, and drop into the BIOS to make any adjustments.



Software bundle

The installation CD includes the Intel 3.40.1001 patch, drivers for the USB 2.0 controller, drivers for the sound-card, Adobe Acrobat Reader, a digital rendition of the user's manual, a Windows-compatible hardware monitoring utility, and Norton Antivirus.



Hardware bundle

The AOpen AX4B Max comes with: one 80-pin ATA100 cable, one 40-pin ATA33 cable, a floppy-drive cable, and a support-panel for mounting a pair of USB ports.
