Additional features

Additional features of the DFI AK74-AC include: Wake on LAN, Wake on Modem Ring, PS2 connectors, 2 USB ports on the rear panel, 2 USB ports located on the circuit board, Power Failure Recovery, Suspend to RAM, RX/TX connectors, and start-up from the keyboard, mouse, or at a pre-set time. Hardware monitoring of fan speeds, CPU temperature, and of voltages is also included as a standard feature of this PC99-compliant motherboard. An integrated AC"97 sound-card has also been included.

Installation

Installation of the AK74-AC is quite simple. If you plan on installing an AMD Athlon DDR266 CPU, there is no need to fiddle with jumper JP10. And, since there are no other jumpers worth mentioning, installation is only a matter of putting the board in a case, plugging it in, and jumping into the BIOS to make any adjustments.



The software bundle

The installation CD includes the VIA 4-in-1 drivers v4.23, drivers for the sound card and graphics card, Hardware Doctor for monitoring the hardware under Windows, Adobe Acrobat Reader, a digital rendition of the user's manual, PC-Cillin 2000, and Microsoft DirectX 7.0.



The hardware bundle

The AK74-AC also comes with a few other bits of hardware, namely an 80-pin ATA66/100 cable, and a floppy drive cable.
