Additional features

Additional features of the ASUS A7V8X motherboard include: Wake on LAN, Wake on Modem Ring, PS2 connectors for connecting mice & keyboards, six USB ports - four of which are located on the back panel, Suspend to RAM, RX/TX connectors for infrared, an SMbus connector, and start-up from the mouse, keyboard, or at a pre-set time. Hardware monitoring of fan speed, CPU temperature, and of voltages is also included as a standard feature of this PC99-compliant motherboard. Firewire ports are also available as an option.

The ASUS A7V8X also includes (or can include) RAID ATA133 (optional) via Serial ATA ports (optional) or the supplementary IDE port, 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (optional), and a six-channel sound-card.

Installation

Installation of the A7V8X is quite simple, as there is no real need to play with jumpers. Simply place the board in a case, plug in, boot-up, and drop into the BIOS to make any adjustments.


Hardware bundle

The installation CD includes the VIA 4.41 patch, drivers for the sound-card, drivers for the USB 2.0 controller, drivers for the RAID controller, drivers for the network controller, Adobe Acrobat Reader, a digital rendition of the user's manual, Asus Update, DirectX 8.1, Asus Pc Probe, Flash Check Utility, Winbond Voice Editor, Trend Micro PC-cillin 2002, and InterVideo WinCinema (Gold version).

Software bundle

The A7V8X comes with: two 80-pin ATA133 cables, one ATA66 cable, a floppy-drive cable, a 10-6 pin Firewire cable, two Serial ATA cables, a backplate with a pair of USB ports and a game port, a backplate for the S/PDIF connectors, another backplate with two Firewire ports, and a over for the I/O connectors on the rear of the box.
